AMANDA LEHRER (LMSW)

Amanda Lehrer, LMSW (she/her) is a queer, sex- and kink-positive therapist and seasoned clinical case manager with over 25 years of experience in behavioral health. She holds a Master’s degree in Social Work from Case Western Reserve University and works with individuals navigating trauma, identity, relationships, and substance use.

Amanda specializes in supporting people through complex PTSD, grief, disordered substance use, and significant life transitions. Her practice is grounded in harm reduction, relational healing, and a deep affirmation of each client’s identity and lived experience. Working through a harm reduction lens, she integrates EMDR, IFS, DBT, ACT, CBT, Polyvagal Theory, and Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) to help clients reconnect with parts of themselves that feel stuck, silenced, or overwhelmed.

Therapy with Amanda is collaborative, nonjudgmental, and rooted in curiosity. She has extensive experience supporting individuals with mood and thought disorders, trauma, disordered eating, and women’s health—including perinatal and postpartum transitions, perimenopause, hormonal shifts, and midlife changes.

Amanda is especially passionate about working with queer, poly, and creative communities who are reimagining what healing and wholeness can look like. She provides therapy, clinical case management, and coaching through Nest Behavioral Health, Metro Behavioral Health, and Manhattan Alternative. As a queer woman and mother, her approach is trauma-informed, LGBTQ+ affirming, and inclusive of all identities and family structures.

Amanda offers services in person in New York, Connecticut, and Washington, DC, as well as virtually.
